Washers & Dryers Troubleshooting
You expect the best from your appliance purchase and we’re here to help you solve some of the most common washer and dryer problems. From uneven heating to burners not lighting and more, here are the most commonly reported washer and dryer issues and how to troubleshoot them:
How Come My Washer Isn’t Spinning?
If your washer isn’t spinning properly, here are some common causes and fixes:
- Check If the Washer Is Level:
An unlevel washing machine can prevent the spin cycle from working correctly. Use a level tool to check, and adjust the levelling feet as needed to make sure the machine sits flat and stable. - Avoid Overloading:
Too much laundry can unbalance the load and stop the washer from spinning. Redistribute clothes evenly inside the drum and avoid overfilling your washer.
Why Isn’t My Washing Machine Draining?
If your washing machine isn’t draining properly, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Inspect the Drain Hose:
Check that the drain hose isn’t kinked, bent, or clogged. Any obstruction can prevent water from flowing out. - Flush the Drain Hose:
Detach the hose and flush it with water to clear any blockages inside. - Ensure the Washer Is Level:
An unlevel washing machine can cause drainage issues. Use a level tool and adjust the washer’s feet as needed to keep it balanced. - Check the Drain Hose Position:
Make sure the drain hose isn’t inserted too far into the standpipe, as this can cause siphoning and prevent proper draining.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s a good idea to contact a professional technician for further diagnosis and repair. (the words ‘contact a professional technician’ links to the Service page)
